Route Optimisation Software for Waste Collections
Our route optimisation software is built for waste collections, not parcel drops. It sequences multi-stop rounds from your depot to cut driving time, checks each customer's opening hours, warns when a van will be over capacity and sends the finished route straight to the driver's app.
How Our Route Optimisation Software Works
Our route optimisation software sequences multi-stop waste collection rounds from your depot, solving the same kind of routing problem (the travelling salesperson problem) that logistics firms use, but adapted for waste collections rather than parcel drops.
It uses OpenRouteService to calculate realistic driving times between stops, then builds the shortest practical round, accounting for your depot location, customer opening times and van capacity, so routes are efficient without being unrealistic for the driver on the ground.
Build Routes from Customers, Overdue Lists or Jobs
You can build a route from a selected list of customers, from an overdue collections list, from new jobs that have come in by phone or web, or from a radius search around a postcode. Postcode geocoding places every address accurately on a Leaflet map, so you can see the whole round before it's assigned.
Opening Times and Arrival Windows
Each customer's opening hours are built into the route, so the software won't schedule an arrival before a site opens or after it closes. It calculates an ETA per stop, and flags any conflict where a planned arrival would miss the customer's available window, so the office can fix it before the driver sets off.
Van Capacity and Payload Warnings
Before a route is sent out, the software checks it against the van's capacity and payload, and warns if the planned collections would overload the vehicle. That means fewer failed collections, fewer vans running back to base mid-round, and less risk of overloading.
Fill Gaps with Nearby Customers
If a route has spare capacity or a gap in the schedule, the radius search can surface nearby customers who are due or overdue for collection, so drivers aren't driving past paying jobs on the way to the next stop.
Send Routes Straight to Drivers
Once a route is built and checked, it's sent directly to the driver's app. Drivers see their stop list in order, can hand off navigation to Google or Apple Maps, and capture proof of collection, photos, weights and signatures as they go. See how routes connect to the rest of the system.
