Digital Waste Tracking for Tyre Recycling Made Easy

Digital waste tracking for tyre recycling doesn't have to mean more paperwork. Tyre collectors and recyclers have long been a target for waste crime enforcement, making a clean digital trail a genuine selling point. We build a bespoke app around how your business works, so every job, weight and signature is captured once, digital waste transfer notes are sent automatically and your Defra records are submitted on time.

How Digital Waste Tracking for Tyre Recycling Works

Waste tyres have a long history of illegal storage, dumping and fraudulent export. That's why regulators watch the tyre trade closely, and why legitimate tyre collectors and recyclers benefit from being able to prove where every tyre went.

Digital waste tracking for tyre recycling builds that proof in. Our app records each collection from garages and dealers, counts and weights, the vehicle that carried them and the site that received them. When tyres arrive at your site, the receipt is reported to Defra automatically.

Tyre Counts and Weights Recorded Per Collection

Garages think in numbers of tyres. Defra and receiving sites think in tonnes. The app records both: drivers enter tyre counts by type, such as car, van, truck or agricultural, and the app records or estimates the weight using your standard conversion factors or the weighbridge figure. Customers see the count on their waste transfer note; your records hold the weight as well.

Garage Rounds and Bulk Collections

Most tyre collectors run regular rounds to garages and fast-fit centres, plus bulk collections from fleet operators, farms and tyre dealers. The app plans rounds around each garage's typical volume and collection cycle, flags overdue customers, and handles one-off bulk jobs on the same calendar.

Prove Your Tyres Went to Legitimate Outlets

When tyres leave your site, whether as baled tyres, shred, crumb, tyre-derived fuel or for export, the app records each outgoing load with its destination and evidence. You can show an auditor or customer the full chain: garage, collection, your site and final outlet.

When Tyre Collectors and Recyclers Must Comply

If you operate a permitted tyre recycling or processing site, Phase 1 applies to the tyres you receive: 1 October 2026 in England and Wales and 1 January 2027 in Scotland and Northern Ireland. As a tyre collector, your collection vehicles are planned to come into scope in Phase 2, expected to become mandatory from October 2027.

Some tyre activities run under waste exemptions rather than permits. Exempt sites aren't in Phase 1 but are expected in a later phase.

EWC Codes and Records for Tyre Collectors and Recyclers

The main code for waste tyres is:

16 01 03end-of-life tyres

Outputs from processing can carry other codes, such as 19 12 04 plastic and rubber, depending on the treatment. Always confirm codes against the official List of Wastes.
