Digital Waste Tracking for Vehicle Dismantlers Made Easy

Digital waste tracking for vehicle dismantlers doesn't have to mean more paperwork. Authorised Treatment Facilities receive end-of-life vehicles and parts every day, each one needing receipt records, depollution evidence and now Defra digital waste tracking. We build a bespoke app around how your business works, so every job, weight and signature is captured once, digital waste transfer notes are sent automatically and your Defra records are submitted on time.

How Digital Waste Tracking for Vehicle Dismantlers Works

Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) and vehicle dismantlers receive end-of-life vehicles, depollute them, recover parts and send the remaining materials on for recycling. Every vehicle received is a waste receipt, and many of the fluids and components removed are hazardous waste.

Digital waste tracking for vehicle dismantlers means each receipt is reported to Defra within 2 working days, alongside the Certificate of Destruction process and depollution records you already keep. Our app brings these together, so one record covers the vehicle from arrival to final disposal.

Vehicle Receipts and Certificates of Destruction

When a vehicle arrives, the app records the registration, make, model, VIN, where it came from and who delivered it, along with photos. Certificate of Destruction details are captured in the same record. The receipt is reported to Defra automatically, with the right EWC code depending on whether the vehicle contains hazardous components.

Depollution Records by Component

Depollution steps, such as removing batteries, fuel, oils, coolant, brake fluid, airbag units and air-conditioning gas, are recorded as checklists against each vehicle, with quantities and photos. That gives you a clear, auditable record for your permit and makes it simple to produce totals of each hazardous stream.

Hazardous Fluids and Batteries Tracked

Fluids and components removed from vehicles are stored and later sent to specialist processors. The app tracks quantities into storage and out to collection, and links the outgoing movements to hazardous waste consignment notes, so you can show what went where and when.

When Vehicle Dismantlers and ATFs Must Comply

ATFs and vehicle dismantlers operating under environmental permits are receiving sites, so Phase 1 applies. Digital waste tracking became mandatory on 1 October 2026 in England and Wales, and applies from 1 January 2027 in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

If you also collect vehicles with your own recovery trucks, Phase 2, planned for October 2027, will apply to those movements too.
